According to the overall arrangement of the graduate student enrollment work in our school, in order to further select superb academic achievements, excellent scientific research ability, and high comprehensive quality, the outstanding college students who are interested in studying for graduate students in our college should enhance their understanding of the subjects and specialties of our college. The summer camp for outstanding college students was held in July 2018, and the opening ceremony was held at 8:30 on July 23, 2018 in the Leather Building Lecture Hall.

Under careful organization and arrangement of the college, 128 students from 46 universities in the whole country including Sichuan Agricultural University, Northwest Agricultural and Forestry University, Southwest University, Hefei University of Technology, Nanchang University, Shaanxi University of Science and Technology, Qilu University of Technology and etc. applied for the summer camp. After preliminary data review and conditional selection, 44 excellent college students were admitted to participate in summer camp activities for the 2018 class of outstanding college students.

Associate Professor Liu Xiaohu, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Institute of Textile and Food, Professor He Qiang, Vice President, Professor Chen Wuyong, National distinguished teacher, Associate Professor Guo Ronghui, Chairman of the Department of Textile and clothing Engineering, and Associate Professor Yang Luming, Deputy head of the Department of Biomass and Leather Engineering, Associate Professor Chi Yuanlong, Deputy head of the Department of Food Engineering, teacher Li Hui, director of the Party and Government Affairs Office of the College, and teacher He Ting, counselors, attended the opening ceremony. On behalf of the college, Secretary Liu Xiaohu warmly welcomed the 44 campers from colleges and universities across the country, and thanked the teachers who had worked hard for the summer camp. At the same time, Secretary Liu introduced our university as a class A university with dual first-class construction. Our institute also actively led the construction of a first-class discipline platform for advanced light industry technology and environmental protection, on which, we need excellent graduate students to contribute to double-class construction.

After the opening ceremony, the first expert report of the camp was held. Professor Chen Wuyong, supervisor of Biomass and Leather Engineering Department, made a special presentation on the subject of introduction of Biomass Science and Engineering. Professor Chen summarized the development of Biomass Science and Engineering from the major universities and their characteristics at home and abroad. He also introduces what biomass is, the technology and development of biomass conversion, and the framework of biomass science and engineering. Taking traditional food, leather, textile and other subjects as examples, the relationship between traditional light industry and biomass is expounded. Professor Chen’s presentation provides participants a new understanding of biomass and points the way for students to study in the future.
