1. Training objectives of the major

This major aims to train compound professionals who master the basic theory and professional knowledge in mathematics, materials, chemical engineering, trade and design, etc. and have the strong creative consciousness and basic skills of engineering, production management, quality control, product design, trade and scientific research about the major (leather engineering or leather product design).

2. Requirements of training objectives：

The students in the major mainly study the basic theory and knowledge in the chemical composition, structure, properties, processing and application of natural and synthetic fibers (especially animal skin fibers) and the design and trade of related products, learning the basic theory and knowledge in materials, chemistry and chemical industry, product design and trade, etc. accepting the basic training of professional education (professional courses, professional experiments and engineering training, etc.) and general education, quality and innovation education, having the basic method and ability to analyze and solve problems.

Graduates should acquire the knowledge and ability of the following aspects：

1) Having a good political ideology, moral character, patriotism and collectivism;

2) Mastering the basic theory of the major, process principle, engineering technology, and design and market development of related product, as well as the basic knowledge of technical and economic analysis, environmental protection, cleaner production and comprehensive utilization;

3) Mastering the management and control of production process, product quality analyzing and testing methods;

4) Having the basic ability to acquire knowledge and apply knowledge independently, the basic ability to make comprehensive experiment and engineering, the ability to apply professional computer software related to the major;

5) Being familiar with the industry guidelines, policies and regulations relative to the major;

6) Understanding the recent developments, trends and new theories, new techniques and new equipment related to the major at home and abroad;

7) Having certain scientific research and practical ability, having innovative thinking and critical thinking ability.

3.Core curriculum in the major：Tanning Technology, Fur Technology, Tanning Chemistry, Leather Chemical Materials, Leather Machinery, Leather Professional Foreign Language, Synthetic Leather Materials and Technology, Hides Proteins Chemistry and Histology.
